Electricity and
heat for the Spa Hotel Abukuma
The smart alternative with pellets.

At the Spa Hotel Abukuma, located in a Japanese village in Fukushima Prefecture, biomass CHP units are used for water heating, air conditioning, floor and street heating.

Goal of the hotel

Reduce carbon footprint and generate electricity and heat for the hotel and on-site spa.

Accommodation in the spa

Reduce carbon footprint and generate electricity and heat for the hotel and on-site spa.

Solution:

Pellet biomass cogeneration plants “E3” and “WE-50P” were installed. The heat from both biomass cogeneration plants (180 kW in total) is used in cascade for water heating, air conditioning, floor heating and street heating in the complex

Services and benefits

  • The electricity generated is used within the hotel.
  • Part of the electricity is fed into the local community.
  • The generated heat is used within the building.
  • By using the heat from the CHP units, the operating time of the boilers has been significantly reduced.
